Do you use a ball?
No, points are scored by the jammer legally passing opposing players.

Do you skate on roller blades?
NO!  Old school baby! We skate on traditional quad skates. Each skater spends a lot of time finding the right wheels and bearings for her skates as well as skate maintenance.

Do you get hurt playing roller derby?
Yes. So far on our league, there has been a shattered wrist, broken ankles, broken or jammed noses, broken tailbones, dislocated shoulders, concussions and numerous sprains, twists, and bruises.  Check out our ouch photo gallery.

Is it the same roller derby I used to watch?
The roller derby you used to watch on TV was staged.  This emerged from that roller derby and has some of the same principles and ideas, but the current roller derby is a real sport with rules and strategies. All the action you see is the real deal.

Do you get paid?
Actually we pay to do this. Our monthly dues help cover the cost of renting a practicie facility.  Ticket sales and fundraisers go towards bout production costs, travel expenses, insurance, training, and our goal for national and international roller derby domination!

What would make you play this game?
Every skater will give you a different answer. But one thing we can all agree on, is that we play because we love the game. The training, the sore muscles, the bruises, and even the injuries are all worth it when we hit the track.

Who do you play?
Our league is made-up of four teams (Camaro Harem, CarnEvil, Hula Honeys and Pink Pistols) that bout each other. We also have an all-star travel team which competes against leagues from around the country and the world. The WFTDA tournaments and provides quarterly rankings on the member leagues. For more information visit www.WFTDA.com.

What are Jet City Rollergirls' goals?
JCRG is committed to representing Snohomish County, WA nationwide and internationally by being a force to be reckoned with on the roller derby track. In the next few years and for the foreseeable future we will be aggressively training and competing in order to qualify for the western regional championships, and going on to dominate in the national tournament!

How do I join/tryout?
We have skater round-ups where we put potential skaters through some drills to see their skills and perform interviews. Prior to round-up we offer a skate skills boot camp that teaches the basics and helps potetential skaters pass the WFTDA skills test.

What sort of community charities are you involved in?
All sorts. We feature a charity for our different bouts and events.  Take a look at the different charities we have supported.
